Jay Hales is a career and technical education (CTE) coordinator with more than 30 years of experience in automotive instruction and the skilled workforce. A nationally recognized educator, he has earned the Jordan Education Foundation Teacher of the Year (2010), Jordan District Career and Technical Teacher of the Year (2012), Huntsman Excellence in Education Award (2012), SkillsUSA Utah Teacher of the Year (2016), and Harbor Freight Tools for Schools Teacher of the Year (2023).

Under his mentorship, students have captured more than 30 combined state championships in SkillsUSA automotive, motorcycle, and power equipment competition and qualified for the Weber State University Automotive Contest 23 consecutive years.
