My name is Jenna Baumgart. I’ve been a musician for almost as long as I can remember. I started playing the piano at age six and violin at age 8. From there, I’ve learned the organ, viola, cello, bass clarinet, baritone sax, and a few instruments you’ve probably never heard of. I have a genuine affection for things old and historical. The Baroque period is my favorite!
I am married. I have two grown children, two grown step-children, three sweet grand-babies, and a long-haired chorkie dog named Pete!!
I hold a Bachelor of Music in Education from Utah State University and a Masters in Music Education from the University of Utah. I am also an Alexander Technique teacher. This body use/awareness method saved my performing career. If you’d like to know more about it, please ask. I am also a member of the Performing Arts Medical Association and focus on keeping young performers healthy and pain-free as they play and perform.
I’ve played with the Wyoming Symphony, Powder River Symphony, Black Hills Symphony, and the Salt Lake Symphony. I also teach private lessons and freelance around the valley on violin and viola and have had the opportunity to play backup for artists like Colin Raye and Mark O’Connor.
Teaching high school has been the most fun, rewarding, scary, frustrating, fantastic job ever and I love it. I love the students. I love the music. But mostly I love seeing what the music does in transforming the students. If there is anything I can do for you please let me know. Your student their safety, learning, and musical enjoyment is my first priority. Thanks for sharing your family with me!
