PTSA Board 2019-2020
We always welcome help from parents and students. Anyone can volunteer, but parents or students who are members of the PTSA can help us even more. $7 to join and you can pay on Skyward or in the office.
If you’ve joined the PTSA and haven’t been contacted by anyone to get involved, you’re not alone. This is the challenge we’ve faced the last few years: a parent pays their dues online, the PTSA receives a list of payments under a student name and that’s it. The school can’t give out your contact information without your permission. Hopefully this will be less of a problem next year, but for now we ask that you contact US. We would love to have you join us if we knew who you were.
PTSA students who are seniors are eligible to apply for our scholarship because of their involvement. The application process is simple. Forms will be available in the main office and counseling center at the beginning of February and are due 28 February to the main office. It’s not too late to join the PTSA.
Parents and students can email us or create a memberhub account to access our volunteer calendar at West Jordan High PTSA. You can use the desktop or mobile version.
1. Parents can help sell Jag Swag at Boys’ basketball games.
2. If we have enough volunteers and interest, we can sell Jag Swag at other events. Suggest one to us! We want everyone to have access to Jag Swag to show their school pride.
3. We are also looking for parents to help on the Grad Night Committee. This is a party held for seniors on graduation night to offer a safe and fun place to celebrate. Meetings begin in January. We are looking for donations or help looking for donations and collecting donations. Anyone that would like to help plan the party: .decorating, advertising, or activity chairpersons.
4. We are bringing back Battle of the Bands this year. We could use a parent to head this up. Our information meeting for interested students will be January 16th after school in the media center. General rules are available here.
Our nominating committee is in place and will begin making recommendations for our 2020/2021 PTSA committee. Come and join us! Let us know if you’re interested in serving on the board next year.
We meet every first Tuesday from 1:30-2:30 pm in the alumni room. Please check in at the front office and they can direct you from there.
Congratulations to “The Oncoming Storm” who won our school Battle of the Bands competition and $200. Band members include: Tim Mackay, Marlon Muñoz, Michael Crissman and graduate of WJ, Daemon Knox. They will be representing WJ at the multi-region Battle of the Bands on Thursday, 26 March at 7:00 pm at Mountain Ridge High School. Tickets are $5 and proceeds are used for a cash prize for they winning band. Please join us in supporting WJ and other students around the valley as they share their talents and compete for a place at state.
