Dance Company Visits New York City

During spring break, the West Jordan Dance Company was able to take their talents to New York City. The dancers not only had the opportunity to work with illustrious dance artists at the Broadway Center for Dance and Steps on Broadway dance studios, but they were also able to study American history and immerse themselves in the artistic culture of New York. In less than a week's time, Dance Company took classes from Eboni Osavio, who has worked with artists such as Mariah Carey, Sean Paul, and Ludacris. They also worked with renowned choreographer Julia Kane; and Sheila Barker, who was featured on the front cover of Dance Teacher Magazine and has danced on Broadway. Sheila Barker also trained Broadway dancers and continues to inspire dancers at home and abroad. The dancers saw the magic of Broadway by attending the incredible new production of MJ: the Musical, Wicked, and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. They visited the Statue of Liberty, toured Ellis Island, remembered the past at the 9/11 Memorial, walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and through Central Park. Dance Company also viewed the city from the Empire State Building and Top of the Rock, visited museums, and ate a plethora of incredible food. This tour is one that will not be soon forgotten.
